Türkiye opens its universities for international students from all around the world with "Türkiye Scholarships".

Türkiye scholarship is a non-refundable grant and provided at higher education for international students.
The aim of Türkiye Scholarships is to improve bilateral relations with other countries and to contribute richness of global information with people oriented approach.

Applications will be considered according to candidates' academic success and successful candidates will be invited for face to face or online interviews. Information for the interviews will be send to candidates' e-mail addresses that they used for application.
Students who are selected for the scholarship will continue their education in a suitable department that they have academic background.
Türkiye scholarships consist of these opportunities:
• Monthly Pocket Money
For Vocational School Students 282,50 USD per Month
For Undergraduate Students 282,50 USD per Month
For Master's Students 423.75 USD per Month
For Ph.D. Students 565 USD per Month
• Housing
Türkiye Scholarship students can stay in public university dormitories without paying any fee. Students who do not want to stay in these dormitories can use other housing possibilities on their own expenses.
• Tuition Fee
Türkiye scholarship students do not pay any tuition or university fee for education.
• Health Expenses
Türkiye Scholarship students are covered by public health insurance.
• Turkish Language Course
Türkiye Scholarship Students take Turkish language course for one year if they do not have proof of Turkish Language knowledge. Students who are placed in departments which instruct in other languages than Turkish also must take Turkish Language Course.
• Transportation
Türkiye Scholarship students will get certain amount of money for their transportation expenses at their first arrival to Türkiye and departure after graduation from Türkiye.

General Informations

Higher Education
In Turkey, higher education consists of universities with associate's, bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree programs, faculties, institution, conservatories and vocational schools... In total, 103 of 176 universities are state universities, the rest of them (73) are private ones. According to the data of recent years, the number of university students with the number of the students in formal education and distance education is about 3,5 million.

Admission Requirements
For Undergradute Programs If the applicants want to study at any undergraduate programs, they should make an application directly to the university. Each university accepts international students according to their own requirements and these requirements are published on their websites.

Admission Requirements For Graduate Programs
Graduate programs contain master, doctorate and specialization in medicine programs. In Turkey, these programs are carried out via institutions.

The Documents Required From The Applicants
In the applications for the graduate programs, there should be their diploma, course contents, references and letters of intention. In addition to these documents, Graduate Entrance Exam's (ALES) results are wanted from the students who graduated in Turkey. The universities using English in their education can ask for exams such as TOEFL, GRE or GMAT which have international validity. Each university and program has different may have different admission criteria. Therefore, those who wants to have graduate education has to apply directly to the institutions of the universities.

Master Programs
Master programs have two types: mater's and post-graduate (No thesis) education. Master's degree consists of at least seven courses, one seminar and a thesis study. Post-graduate (No thesis) education programs contain at least ten courses and a semester project. The period to finish master program is 2 years.

Doctorate Programs
Doctorate programs have at least seven courses, proficiency exam and a thesis. The period to complete the courses are four semesters at most and the period to finish the doctorate program is eight semesters. To apply doctorate programs, it is an obligation to have a master's degree. The applicants can apply with their undergraduate diploma to the joint doctorate programs which consists of both master and doctorate education.

Academic Calendar
There are two academic terms in Turkey: spring and fall. Besides, some universities have summer school programs.

Turkish Language Education

turkceTurkish is a modern language which is spoken by almost 100 million people in the world. On that sense, Turkish language is one of the mostly spoken languages in the world after Chinese, Arabic, Hindu, English, Spanish, Russian, French and Portuguese.

Those Turkiye Scholarship holders who do not know Turkish are granted free Turkish language learning course for one year. Turkish Language course is obligatory for all students who are placed in Turkish or other medium education departments. Turkish Language Courses take place in the cities that students are going to study AT Turkish Education Centers (TÖMER). Language course takes 8 months and finishes in June. Students expected to have C1 level Turkish knowledge at the end of the course from the Turkish Sufficiency Test. Those students who are successful at the exam will continue their education at the university they're registered. Unsuccessful students will have additional time until September in order to take the exam and fulfill the language criteria.

If a student cannot fulfill the expected language score, his/her scholarship will go into abeyance for a year and his/her language course and other scholarship expenses will not be paid. His/her scholarship will be started again if the student can have C1 level Turkish Language Certificate in that year.

If student fails have C1 Level Turkish Language Certificate at his/her second chance, his/her scholarship and university registration will be cancelled.
