European Union

Especially since last thirty years, world's political- economical structure has shaped in three ways: Globalization, integration and separation. Against the challenges of political and economical globalization and separation, philosophically, culturally, economically and politically similar countries collaborate within the frame of specific principles and values so that the global world becomes "a territorial village". Free circulation of labor and goods and services, common currency, supranational citizenship and student exchange programs lead interactions and socializations between different nations which have different cultural and historical experiences. The most tangible result of these changes in national and international level is European Union.

Turkey, as a crossing point opportunities and threats led by the last 30 years global transformations, has a great potential for a new social contract in which guarantees stability and order thanks to its position in geo-political and geo-economical resource allocation as well as philosophical and cultural inheritance from its' geo-historical and geo-cultural interactions. International economy-politic and international politics' territorial and global power configurations directly depend on European Union's relation with Turkey.

Full-membership negotiations started in 2005 put Turkey in central position in Europe's internal politics. Ever- increasing MA programs in EU at Turkish universities are promoted by interdisciplinary and comparative study areas like political science, international relations, law, economics, history, sociology, immigration and identity studies, etc. These departments' curriculums designed for interpreting the integration to EU in historical and theoretical manner with a deep knowledge on the institutions, laws, policies and structure of EU as well as helping researchers to develop systematic and analytic thinking abilities for new answers.

European Union departments with their wide range and dynamic academic stuff, make collaborations with European universities for exchange programs, partnerships and summer schools which represent multi-cultural and interdisciplinary aspects of these departments in international manner. Naturally, the training language in EU departments is English. Also there are French, Germen, Spanish and Italian courses in the curriculums.

EU programs have graduate courses on EU Politics and International Relations, EU Economy, EU Law and European Studies. Intense and wealthy courses for the students from different backgrounds and for different expertise areas, there are wide range courses, e.g., competition policy, education policy, fishing policy, foreign policy, safety and defense policies.

Graduates with these qualifications continue their studies in academies or field in public or private sector in national and international level. They pursue their career all public institutions, especially in Ministry of Foreign Affairs, media, non-profit organizations, think tanks, multinational corporations, local administrations, UN and EU.
